Diversity in Aquatics

Coach Archie delivers a lot in these powerful 3 minutes, from learning to swim in the creek, his early days at West Virginia State where swimming was compulsory, building Norfolk State’s first pool on the beach with a tractor, and finally making swimming compulsory at Norfolk State by making sure it was included in the curriculum.

Coach Archie, I enjoyed your video and the early days at west Virgina State. You had a great influence on my life as a student and swimmer at Southern University during the 1950's. Hope everything is continuing to go well for you. Some of the old guys are getting together for the Oct. 17 SU homecoming game (Fuzzy, Leon Robinson, ?Duplesses etc.) I sure would like to hear from you.

I was fortunate to meet Coach and was moved by his historic perspectives and dedication to the sport for all these years! The things he's seen and done are ground-breaking and pioneering. I'm honored to be standing on the shoulders of such great aquatic advocates.
