Great info on Charlie "Tuna" Chapman. That's one of the reasons I love this site and recommend it to all. There is so much unknown history here about African Americans in Aquatics. For far too long we have thought and been taught that we did not a...

Make a Splash is a national child-focused water safety initiative created by the USA Swimming Foundation. Make a Splash works by aligning the nation’s top learn-to-swim resources in an effort to save lives.
I am Josh's Moms. From the tragedy of losing my son Josh to drowning - my goal is to be triumphant and to help other mothers avoid such a horrific loss. I have been inspired to "make a difference and stop the drowning." The Josh Project is my vision. The Josh Project will save lives by teaching water safety and miniority children to swim for free! I want parents to know the importance of our children knowing how to swim. Swimming is a life skill, an accredited sport and fun! The drowning rate in our communities is like an epedemic - but together we can "cure" it. In partnership with USA Swimming the national governing body of swimmers we can make a difference. My vision for The Josh Project is to have a JPAC (Josh Project Aquatic Center) where we teach swimming, water safety, boating safety in classes and in the pools. We can do it. I believe that GOD is on my side and I will not fear. To GOD be the GLORY.
I will call you this coming Saturday to see if you are home in the evening. Hope all is well, it will be great to speak with you. I just got a grant allocated for my first swim program!

Hi Wanda, sorry I missed you tonight. I called a few minutes after 6pm Eastern Standard time and then again at 7 pm thinking you were maybe in a different time zone. Can we try to talk over the weekend or early next week? I got a call right before I called you so I was delayed a bit in calling. Again, it will be wonderful to have the opportunity to speak with you.
