Amen! Shaun and Jason are quality people, and their vision for Black America in aquatics is their's (and ours) because they cared enough to bring us all together. I am on the down side of my career (but don't bury me just yet), and I will do what I can to help out where I can (and I will not get in the way).

Thanks Errol for joining. I know now that swimming is a life skill and swimming is fun. My hat is off to you and all of your accomplishments in aquatics. Please do report any tragedies to me in your area and I will gladly contact the survivors - myself being a survivor as well and not a victim. You have a beautiful family of future divers! Your career in aquatics is very impressive. I love DAP because the knowledge and awareness of aquatics in the African American community is so broad but also unknown. I thank God for the insight of Shaun and Jason. Welcome Aboard!! - Blessings.......Josh's mom

GREETINGS! I joined F.L.O.A.T. to help where I can. I am sure that I will find something useful to do to benefit those who may need assistance in learning to swim. I am all about empowerment to swim. I can also track swimming tragedies in my area and report these to Wanda Butts for a support group activities.

Hi Wanda\
All is well, and going at turtle speed, trying to convince these small town country officials of my quest. Right now, I am in the process of recertifying all my credentials(i.e. WSI, LGT, LGIT, CPR, FIRST AID, AND AED) so I can teach this summer. We have an outdoor pool, but many of the residents I've interviewed states the pool is too far for them to drive their children. Still trying to convince the county officials of this, and a pool constructed in town would be easily accessible to all. Yes, I am a member of F.L.O.A.T., but for some reason, eventhough my picture is showing along with other members, it does not show up under my name. Hope all is going well with you. Congrats on the number of children you have signed up for lessons. Continue doing what you do, because your cause is certainly a worthy one. God Bless You Wanda. Darrick aka dswimmerman

WE ARE GETTING READY FOR THE 2ND FUNDRAISER FOR THE JOSH PROJECT, INC. THE EVENT IS AUGUST 9, 2008 FROM NOON TO SIX. IT IS HARD FOR ME TO BELIEVE THAT IT IS ALMOST 2 YEARS SINCE JOSH MADE HIS TRANSITION. THEY SAY THAT IT GET EASIER???? MAYBE IN ABOUT 100 YEARS WHEN I AM GONE TOO. MY MISSION TO SAVE LIVES BY TEACHING WATER SAFETY AND SWIMMING IS HEALING........BUT I MISS MY SON. I WILL KEEP THE FAITH AND KEEP ON BELIEVEING AND LOOK FORWARD TO THAT DAY WHEN I WILL SEE HIM AGAIN UP THERE. I THANK GOD FOR THE 16 YEARS THAT HE ALLOWED JOSH TO BE HERE ON EARTH WITH ME. ALL PRAISE AND HONOR TO GOD IN HEAVEN.......SEE YOU ON THE 9TH WHICH IS ALSO MY BIRTHDAY. MY SON DROWNED 3 DAYS BEFORE MY BIRTHDAY.

Thanks to all of you for your comments and encouragement. I thank God for the vision from the untimely death/transition of my son Josh. He is no longer here on earth but his Spirit lives on in me and others and he left me a great job to do to prevent another mother and family from such a tragic experience. I have a "new life" in the aquatic world and have met so many wonderful people in so many different parts of the world. It amazes me. I wish peace, love, joy, & unity to all of you. All good things - Josh's moms -Wanda

I strongly support the Ideals and purpose of Diversity in Aquatics and its special interest forum groups such as F.L.O.A.T., "JOSH," and SCUBA. Let's continue to keep our people safe from drowning and able to enjoy aquatic activities, and environment. - Ric Powell
